What are continents?
At its most basic, continents are the areas of our planet’ surface that are not submerged or underwater. These huge land masses or continents are the result of shifts that broke up a supercontinent called Pangea by scientists. Even nowdays the 7 continents are changing as blocks on Earth surface are evolving swlowly.
The seven continents are:
- North America
- South America
- Africa
- Antarctica
- Australia (Oceania)
- Europe
- Asia
What are Oceans?
Most of the surface is actually covered in water (about 70%). More than 95% of it is saltwater. An ocean can be defines as a continuous body of salt water covering the Earth surface.
So, the list of the 5 oceans is as follows:
- The Pacific Ocean
- The Atlantic Ocean
- The Indian Ocean
- The Arctic Ocean
- The Southern Ocean
